Hydraulic Cylinders - Manufacturing & Quality
Laystall operates dedicated manufacturing and quality control facilities for hydraulic cylinder production, incorporating specialist machining, welding, assembly, testing and inspection processes.
Rod and Tube Machining
Specialist machining facilities support the efficient manufacture of hydraulic cylinder rods and tubes across a wide range of sizes and lengths.
- Large capacity 3 axis CNC lathes to 5m bc and large headstock bore lathes for longer lengths.
- Ceramic hard turning 3 axis lathes for rods
- Horizontal and vertical 4 axis CNC milling machines
Welding
A range of automated and manual welding processes are used in the manufacture of hydraulic cylinders, with all procedures verified to relevant international standards.
- Synergic GMAW and TIG
- Automated Weld lathes
- Friction welding to 120mm diameter, up to 6m long.
- Robotic GMAW
- Automated port welding
- All manual welding verified to BS EN 1SO 9606-1
Weld designs and procedures are 3rd party verified to BS EN ISO 15614 -1 before series production.
Assembly, Test & Paint
Hydraulic cylinders are assembled, tested and finished in controlled conditions to ensure performance, cleanliness and reliability prior to dispatch.
- Assembled in a segregated clean environment
- 100% hydraulically tested prior to dispatch to maximum 400 bar.
- Laser Particle oil contamination monitoring-16/14/11 max allowable
- Cylinder contamination “slosh” testing – 18/16/13 max allowable
- 7m Spray booth with twin pack auto mixer for paint
Quality
Comprehensive inspection and measurement systems are employed to ensure hydraulic cylinders meet both internal quality standards and specific customer requirements.
Laystall operates to BS EN ISO 9000: 2008 quality standards (Certificate No. Q 10323) in addition to specific customer quality requirements.
Advanced equipment includes:
- CNC CMM
- Digital length checking (rods/tubes)
- Form Talysurf
- Digital torque wrenches
- Digital shadowgraph
